THE CHALLENGE
Crown Control Systems were requested to provide assistance in commissioning a new door loading facility at the plant at Lisbon manufactures the Ford Galaxy, Volkswagen Sharan and Seat Alhambra. The new loading facility was designed to speed up the loading of the door line with reduced manpower.
THE SOLUTION
The third party running the project requested commissioning assistance. On arrival in Portugal, Crown’s engineer assessed the process and quickly identified a problem in the sequencing of the machine. He demonstrated to the contractor where the problem was and how it could be overcome. Having convinced both the contractor and Volkswagen that the solution was feasible, new process timing and sequence charts were developed.
THE RESULT
Using the new control philosophy the project was eventually completed and the required cycle time was delivered.
